"The bass fishing continues to be good. We are finding good numbers of bass on quick dropping ledges along the main river or in some of the deeper creeks. Our best bait remains the Manns Sting Ray grub, avocado color, rigged on a ¼ ounce ball head jig. We use Smelly Jelly fish attractant on our baits. Work the grubs in slow hops and try to remain in contact with the bottom or as close to it as you can. Bites may be subtle. The most active fish are usually on the shallow part of the ledge but fish can be located from the shallow to the deep part of the drop. Once you find a ledge with bass remain on it for a period of time. The fish may bite at different times throughout a tidal movement and one area may produce a dozen bass or more."

Water Temperature: 43 degrees; Water clarity: 1-2 feet

"Fishing has been hit or miss. One day good the next time slow. Pick your day. Look for a sunny, warming day with calm wind. Water in the 40 to 43 degree range has been best for us. Water under 40 and things slow down. Look for a main river ledge or a deep ledge in a creek and work it thoroughly. If you catch a bass dont move. We have been spending three to five hours on a ledge And catching over two dozen bass from one area. The bite is slow but steady. We look for quick biters with a Norman Deep Baby N. Then we switch to a Manns Sting Ray grub. Smelly Jelly is applied to our baits. Yesterdays ledge fishing produced 25 bass for us in four hours of fishing. The biggest was 7# 3oz. Well worth the trip."

"The fishing so far this year has been pretty spectacular. We have been catching bass in good numbers and good size, some up to five pounds, by fishing sharply dropping ledges at the mouths of creeks or along the main river channel. Our primary bait has been the Manns Sting Ray grub. We use a ¼ ounce ball head jig with a short shank hook and rig the grub with the flat tail in the horizontal position. We always coat the grub with copious amounts of a Smelly Jelly fish attractant, crawfish flavor. Simply hop the bait along the bottom like you would a plastic worm. Work the bait all the way back to the boat and vertically jig it a few inches off of the bottom before reeling in to cast again. Bites may be very subtle. If it feels like your bait is heavier, set the hook. Our second most productive bait has been a Crippled Herring spoon in ½ ounce size. I rig mine with the single hook to limit hang ups. Work it just as you would a Silver Buddy or any similar blade bait."

"The year ends on a high note. Winter bass fishing doesnt get much better then it was today. We fished quick dropping ledges at the mouth of a creek with Manns Sting Ray grubs and a ½ ounce Crippled Herring spoon and caught over three dozen bass in a matter of hours. The more active bass were on the top of the ledge in three to four feet of water but some bass were caught at the bottom of the ledge in 17 feet of water. We hopped the baits down the ledge and then vertically jigged them for a few seconds before reeling in to cast again. We coated both baits with a crawfish flavored Smelly Jelly fish attractant."

Water Temperature: 43 degrees; Water clarity: 6 inches - 1 foot
